Green beans are the healthiest and the most delicious vegetables. They are even more delicious when they are cooked with olive oil. This is the Turkish way of cooking this. My family has the tradition to cook these with sugar like they do most vegetables.
The most important thing while cooking this is to make sure that our green beans don’t have hard sides. And if they do you need to cut those sides out. Otherwise when the beans are cooked and softened those hard parts will stay hard and you wont be able to chew into them and therefore you will not enjoy this meal like you should. You also need to cut up the ends.
If you are making this dish it should be eaten either cold or warm. It also tastes delicious with rice and bread.
1/4 cup olive oil
1 kg green beans
1/2 tbsp sugar you could add even more if you like
Salt to taste
1 cup hot water
Cut the green beans in small pieces. If they are long you can make 3 pieces from each
1.Dice the onion in small cubes and fry in olive oil.
2. Puree the tomatoes and add in.
3. Add in the cut up green beans.
4. Add the water and let it start to boil.
5. Add in the sugar and salt.
6. Cook until soft.
